On Monday, November 28, 2011 our baby girl turned one! We spent the afternoon at the zoo....as big brother "navigated" the terrain from the double stroller, she cautiously took in the sights and sounds. Zoe is our serious one....carefully observing everything and calculating things from her point of view. She is very close to walking...taking about 6-10 steps on her own but not really wanting to (crawling is much easier to keep up with brother). I know she will be running soon.
She is definitely all girl (but not a girly-girl). She LOVES books, asking us to read them over and over. She loves dolls and faces....touching the eyes of all her toys and "talking" to them. She loves to mimic too, and will make sounds or babble like we do. (Especially handy when Zach decides to spit or make silly faces and she quickly copies). She likes to climb on pretty much anything, and climbing our stairs is her favorite past time (she must have baby gate radar because if we leave it open for 1 second she is halfway up.)
She has a small vocabulary of words and signs including "milk", "more", "dog", "brother", "mom" and "dad".....and "banana". and "cereal".......speaking of which, she still loves to eat and definitely doesn't miss a meal. Her new favorite thing is to feed other people or the dog (especially things she does not particularly like). What she can't say. she just shreeks; and someone listens and figures it out.
Zoe can go from zero to 60 in about one second --- whether that means being happy or screaming....there is no melow-ness with Ms. Zoe. However....We got her first haircut today and, besides wondering what the stylist was doing, she did wonderfully (a far cry from her brother's first hair cut!) Like a true girl she was very happy in the salon.
